Earth Day 2025: Let’s Clean Out the Clutter—and Protect the Planet Together

Every April, Earth Day reminds us of the power of small actions to create big change. At Omega ECycles, we believe one of the easiest and most impactful steps you can take this Earth Day is to responsibly recycle your old electronics.

Outdated laptops, unused printers, mystery cords in your junk drawer—they’re all taking up space and, more importantly, can be properly recycled instead of ending up in landfills. This year, we’re excited to continue our mission to reduce e-waste in local communities by hosting (and supporting) free electronic recycling events throughout York County.

We invite you to join us—clean out the clutter, protect your data, and take part in something meaningful.

📅 Earth Day ECycle Event – April 22

To celebrate Earth Day, we’re teaming up with Heritage Valley Federal Credit Union to host a community drop-off event for electronics:

🗓️ Tuesday, April 22, 2025
🕚 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
📍 Heritage Valley FCU – East York Branch
2400 Pleasant Valley Road, York, PA 17402

This event is open to all area residents and completely free of charge. Just show up with your old devices, and we’ll take care of the rest!

✅ What You Can Recycle

We’re accepting a wide variety of electronics, including:

  • Desktop & Laptop Computers
  • Hard Drives & External Drives
  • Flat Screen Monitors (no CRTs or TVs)
  • Cell Phones & Tablets
  • Keyboards, Mice & Cables
  • Routers, Modems & USB Devices
  • Printers, Copiers, DVD Players & more

Have something not listed? Bring it along or reach out to check—it might still qualify!

🔐 What About My Data?

We get it—old electronics often still hold important or sensitive data. That’s why every device we collect is handled with care and transported for secure, offsite data destruction.

We follow strict protocols to ensure that all hard drives and memory components are properly destroyed. You can recycle with confidence knowing your information won’t end up in the wrong hands.

And if you’re a business with larger recycling needs, we offer custom pickup and data destruction services. Just get in touch to schedule.

♻️ Why Recycling Electronics Matters

Electronic waste (e-waste) is a growing issue worldwide. Devices that are improperly thrown out can release harmful toxins like mercury and lead into the environment, while also wasting valuable materials that could be reused.

When you recycle with Omega ECycles, you’re:

  • Keeping toxic materials out of landfills
  • Conserving natural resources
  • Reducing energy use
  • Supporting local, responsible recycling efforts

In short, you’re making a difference—for your community and for the planet.

💡 Earth Day Is About More Than Just Recycling

While e-cycling is a great step, Earth Day is also a time to reflect on the bigger picture. What else can you do to live more sustainably? Here are a few simple ideas to pair with your recycling efforts:

  • Switch to LED lighting or energy-efficient appliances
  • Reduce single-use plastics where you can
  • Walk or bike when possible instead of driving
  • Support local businesses with sustainable practices
  • Educate friends and family about eco-conscious choices

Every small change adds up—and together, we can move toward a cleaner, more responsible future.

🙌 We’re Grateful for Our Community

We want to extend a big thank-you to Heritage Valley FCU for hosting this year’s Earth Day event, and to all of our incredible community partners throughout York County. We’re proud to be part of a community that doesn’t just talk about sustainability—but actually takes action.

To everyone who drops off their electronics, shares our posts, or spreads the word: thank you. You’re helping make a real impact.

📣 Let’s Do This—Together

We hope to see you this April 22 as we celebrate Earth Day the best way we know how—by keeping electronics out of landfills and doing something good for the planet.
