This April, free e-recycling events in York will give residents two great opportunities to safely recycle old electronics, with one event also offering secure disposal for confidential paper documents. It’s also a fitting way to get in the Earth Day spirit, as Earth Day is April 22.
Omega ECycles is proud to be part of these two free community events focused on responsible recycling, data protection, and environmental stewardship. The first event is a Free Community Shredding and E-Waste Disposal event in partnership with State Rep. Carol Hill-Evans and Tri-State Shredding. The second is a Free Electronics Recycling Event during Earth Week with Heritage Valley Federal Credit Union in East York.

This Earth Week event gives York-area residents another convenient and free opportunity to clear out unwanted electronics and recycle them responsibly. It is a simple way to reduce clutter, protect the environment, and make sure old devices are handled through a secure recycling process.
✅ What Items Are Accepted
Both events are promoting the same core list of accepted electronics, making it easy for residents to know what they can bring.
Accepted items include computers, desktop and laptop devices, hard drives, flat screen monitors, printers, copiers, DVD players, VCRs, modems, USB cords, routers, cell and mobile phones, insulated cable and wire, video game systems, iPads, tablets, and cable boxes. The April 18 event also includes secure on-site shredding for personal paper documents provided by Tri-State Shredding.
Please note that televisions, CRT monitors, and appliances will not be accepted.
🌎 A Community Effort Toward Sustainability
Events like these give local residents a practical way to take part in building a cleaner and more sustainable community. By creating easy public opportunities for electronics recycling and document shredding, these partnerships help make responsible disposal more accessible across York.
Whether someone is cleaning out an office, replacing outdated devices, or getting rid of old personal paperwork, these events turn what can feel like a hassle into a straightforward and meaningful community action.
🔒 Protecting Data and the Environment
Old electronics often contain much more than outdated hardware. They can still hold passwords, personal files, financial records, and other sensitive information. Recycling those items responsibly helps reduce the risk of improper disposal while supporting better environmental outcomes.
Secure shredding matters too. For many households, paper records still contain personal details that should never end up in the trash. Offering electronics recycling and document shredding together gives residents a safer and more complete disposal option.
🤝 Local Leadership and Community Impact
We’re thrilled that State Rep. Carol Hill-Evans will be joining the April 18 event. As York’s state representative for the 95th Legislative District and a longtime public servant in the area, she represents the kind of local leadership that makes events like this even more meaningful for the community.
Partnerships like this are a great example of what can happen when local leadership and community-focused organizations come together to offer something genuinely useful.
📦 Plan Your Visit
Before heading to either event, it is a good idea to back up any files or information you still need from your devices. We also recommend checking for loose items like USB drives, memory cards, discs, adapters, or anything personal that may still be tucked into a tray or port.
Having your electronics gathered and organized ahead of time can make drop-off quicker and easier. There is no need to take devices apart beforehand. We want to make the process as easy as possible for you, so just bring your items as they are and leave the dismantling to the professionals.
🏘️ A Sustainable Future Starts Locally
When communities come together around responsible recycling, the impact goes beyond clearing out old devices. These events help protect personal data, reduce landfill waste, and encourage stronger local habits around sustainability.
Omega ECycles is proud to support events that make recycling simple, secure, and community-focused. We hope to see you in York this April, especially on April 18 with State Rep. Carol Hill-Evans, for days focused on secure disposal, smarter recycling, and a cleaner community.
